Another access path to Te Wairere Waterfall
The Friends of Wairoa Stream have formed a new track for public access from Inlet Road to the Te Wairere waterfall.
The track can be accessed from a newly formed carpark on Inlet Road (see map). It is 270m in length and steeply descends from the carpark to join the Te Wairere Waterfall track 80m downstream from that waterfall.
The track follows a tributary stream in a bush clad valley and includes a spectacular waterfall of its own.
From the carpark, follow the old grass driveway and just before a new fence you will see the start of the walking track. We hope to have signage in place shortly.
The track is slippery in wet conditions and care is needed when using this short but steep track. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
The track has been built on property presented to Council by the Trustees of John Dalton’s Estate. John Dalton was the founder and editor of the Bay Chronicle and he and Doug Turner lobbied hard and fought for many years for the Turner Centre, a wonderful community asset.
