Kerikeri High School native tree planting

On Tuesday,13th June, there was another very successful planting on the Wairoa Stream walkway when 22 Kerikeri High School year 8 students, mentored by Friends of Wairoa stream, planted 128 more native trees and shrubs along the Wairoa stream banks near Alderton Park.

Since 2018 Kerikeri High School students have planted 650 plants of 36 different species on this site and the area is now becoming well forested. This locality started off in 2015 as a very unpromising, impenetrable area of blackberry, gorse, Tobacco weed, Moth Plant and kikiyu.
